The Black Beast is back in the octagon with this being his third main card event in a row. He has mixed results from those two after losing to a decision to Jailton Almeida, but immediately coming back with a TKO win versus Rodrigo Nascimento. Lewis is 2-4 in his last six fights, but is never a fighter to take lightly.
Opposite him is the 25-year-old Brazilian phenom, Tallison Teixeira. UFC’s Heavyweight division has been looking for a new contender for quite some time, and Teixeira just might be the next best thing, that is, if he can get past Lewis.
Teixeira made his debut in the UFC in February by TKO-ing Justin Tafa in just 35 seconds at UFC 312. Before that, he basically did the same to Arthur Lopes in Dana White’s Contender Series. With two first-round TKOs, the UFC had nowhere to go except to put him to the test. But the test is the Black Beast, one of the hardest-hitting punchers in the UFC.
Unfortunately for Lewis, I do agree with the oddsmakers of Teixeira being the favourite here. He is younger and has a better gas tank, something that Lewis has struggled with for years. While we haven’t seen Xicao past the first round, I know how Lewis looks when he goes into round two. Derrick has a puncher’s chance, and a very dangerous one. But I still pick Teixeira to win by KO. Derrick is 40 years old and I think that his time in the octagon should be coming to an end.
