The Boston Finisher is back in the Octagon, except that he will be facing the real finisher in Steve Garcia. The Mean Machine has 14 KO/TKOs in his career and is on a five-fight win streak, all won by KO or TKO. On the other hand, Calvin Kattar is on the biggest slump of his career, dropping four in a row.
The only bright sign is that Kattar has never been finished in all of those losses. His loss to Arnold Allen does go as a TKO loss, but it was due to a knee injury. However, against Garcia, it might be a whole different story. Steve has an arsenal of attacks which he is going to let lose on Kattar as soon as the bell rings. His recent finishes against Kyle Nelson and Seung Woo Choi both came in the first round. So I assume that Garcia is not losing any time in this one as well.
With both fighters being primarily boxers, this is going to be a puncher’s delight. Don’t expect to see any grappling here, and the only part when a fighter will go to the ground is probably after a KO. And I do see Steve Garcia landing that finishing punch.
Kattar is already 37 and has not performed at his best for a while now. Going up against Garcia toe to toe is not going to serve him. Even though he is a puncher himself, I think that Garcia is going to outland him and find a way to slip in a finishing blow. So Garcia via knockout all the way here.
