Sevilla was relegated from the Champions League after taking the third spot in Group G. However, the Red and Whites joined the Europa League playoffs and beat PSV by 3:0 and 2:0 in the first round of matches.
After that, the Red and Whites outshadowed Fenerbahce two times by 2:0 and 1:0.
In one of their greatest performances, Sevilla knocked out Man Utd. First, they tied a match as an away team (2:2).
Playing as a home team, the Spaniards crushed Man Utd by 3:0 and advanced to the semifinals. The very last game that Sevilla played was the first semifinal match with their current rivals, Juventus, and it ended in a tie (1:1).
Juventus had to deal with a similar situation in which they ranked third and were eliminated from the Champions League. But they improved their form after getting past Nantes in the Europa League playoffs in two matches (1:1 and 3:0).
The Zebre also overpowered Freiburg by 1:0 and 2:0 in the second playoff round. During the quarterfinals, Juventus drew the second game against Sporting (1:1) and went to the semifinal stage as they won the first match by 1:0. As said, they had their last game with the aforementioned Sevilla, which was a no-winner match.
The Spanish and Italian veterans have played six matches by now. It was the club from Turin that was more successful. In other words, Juventus won three games in the past by 2:1, 2:0 and 3:1.
Sevilla was better than Juventus on one occasion, as it gained victory by 1:0. These clubs have drawn two games so far. The first no-winner encounter in 2016 ended by 0:0. And, their most recent game, which took place on 11 May, featured one goal on each side (1:1).
Both teams have come very far and deserve some respect. Yet, taking the road to the semifinals into consideration, we found that Sevilla used to beat their opponents more convincingly than Juventus.
This may be one of the reasons why bookies offer odds of 2.56 for them to win. The same market implying Juventus’ victory includes odds of 3.22. Bettors that also think Sevilla will be more dominant may consider placing a “home/home” bet suggesting that the hosts will win the first half and eventually win the match at 4.00 odds.
Our Sevilla vs Juventus predictions also recommend combining this bet with the one predicting that the home team will score at least one goal in both halves. The odds for this lie at 3.95.
Probably, many players from Sevilla’s squad will miss this game. In contrast, only De Sciglio may not be able to play for Juventus. After all changes, these will likely be the starting 11:
