In one of the final matches of Group B, Russia will be on the road for the first time at Euro 2020, with Denmark playing host at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, on 22 June 2020. This will be a meeting of two nations meeting for the first time competitively. Kick-off for Russia vs Denmark is at 21:00, local time.
Russia followed up on an impressive home tournament in 2018 with a strong qualification campaign to qualify for Euro 2020. Finishing as comfortable runners-up to Belgium, losing just twice – both times to the Red Devils. Artem Dzyuba was the standout performer for Russia in qualifying, netting nine in 10, with Denis Cheryshev propping up a fine campaign with an additional five goals en route to this summer’s tournament.
One-time European champions Denmark will be convinced they have the best chance to follow-up on qualification from a tough looking group involved Switzerland and Denmark, by having home advantage in all of their Group B games. The Danes remained unbeaten throughout qualification. Manager Åge Hareide will depart as manager after Euro 2020, so will hope to end his tenure on a high.
There’s not so much to go on in terms of a head-to-head record, as Russia and Denmark have surprisingly only ever met one time, in 2012, with the Russians coming out victorious in a friendly fixture.
Russia will be confident, despite having to play at the home of Danish football, that their impressive stats en route to qualifying can see them make it two wins over Denmark in their history. Stanislav Cherchesov’s side averaged 3.3 goals per game, scoring 33 times and conceding on average 0.8 per game in qualifying.
Denmark finished as top scorers in their qualification group with 23 goals in eight games, an impressive average of 2.88 goals per game. The Danes are unbeaten at home competitively since 2016.
Denmark are being backed as the favourites for the clash for this Group B clash with odds of 10/11, while Russia are given odds of 5/2, which could be very profitable and surprising considering their recent competitive record. A draw between two even-looking nations is available at 2/1.
