Major League Soccer has gained much more attention from the rest of the world in recent years. For a while now, some of the most popular players in the world decided to end their careers in the US. One of the biggest transfers was Lionel Messi who is considered the best player in the world for the past decade besides Christiano Ronaldo who is in Saudi Arabia.
Founded in 1993, the league will be home to 28 teams since 2022. It works differently from most other football leagues worldwide including Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A or Ligue 1, having no promotion or relegation. The league is split into two Conferences, the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference, with each side playing 34 games in an MLS season, 26 against sides in their conference and 10 against sides from the other. The season ends in October, with the Supporters’ Shield awarded to the side with the best record. The current holders of the Supporters’ Shield are Los Angeles Football Club.
