Let’s take a look at how the Turkish Cup works. 156 clubs enter this competition in the first round. These clubs come from the top four divisions in Turkey’s football pyramid and the Turkish Regional Amateur League. Clubs from the Super Lig, First League and Second League join the competition in the second round, with those clubs competing in European club competitions entering in the fourth round.
The eight teams remaining in the Quarter Finals are divided into two groups. In each group, the sides play each other once. The winners and runners up in each group then meet in the Semi-Finals. The Semi-Finals are two-legged affairs, with the winners meeting in the Final.
The Final is a one-off tie played at a neutral venue. The winners of the Turkish Cup also receive a place in the Europa League. If the winners have already qualified for European competition through their league position, the runners up take their Europa League spot.
