EuroLeague is one of the biggest basketball leagues in the world with a lot of high-quality players that could play on the same level as in the NBA. Most of them would dominate in the leagues like Chinese CBA, so it’s always refreshing to watch their games. With great games come great predictions from bettingexpert which you can find for every single match.
The 2024/25 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season delivered another chapter of high-level European basketball, culminating in a historic Final Four in Abu Dhabi. Fenerbahçe emerged as champions, navigating a competitive field through a demanding regular season and intense playoff battles.
The regular season, which ran from October 3, 2024, to April 11, 2025, delivered us one of the most competitive seasons yet to date. Nevertheless, Olympiacos Piraeus finished at the top of the standings with a strong 24-10 record. Close behind were Fenerbahçe Istanbul (23-11), Panathinaikos Athens (22-12), and AS Monaco (21-13), all securing home-court advantage for the playoffs.
Individually, Carsen Edwards had a standout regular season. He earned the Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy, averaging an impressive 20.4 points per game. His scoring prowess was a consistent theme throughout the campaign. T.J. Shorts of debutant Paris Basketball also made a significant impact, leading the league with 7.3 assists per game, while his team recorded a notable 10-game winning streak during their first EuroLeague season. Sasha Vezenkov of Olympiacos led in Performance Index Rating with 23.7.
The postseason, including the play-in tournament for teams ranked 7th to 10th, was filled with compelling matchups. In the quarter-finals, top-seeded Olympiacos overcame Real Madrid 3-1. AS Monaco edged out FC Barcelona in a tight 3-2 series. Panathinaikos also went the distance, defeating Anadolu Efes 3-2. Fenerbahçe secured a convincing 3-0 sweep against newcomer Paris Basketball.
Sasha Vezenkov was recognised for his efforts during this stage, earning the Playoffs MVP award.
For the first time, the EuroLeague Final Four was held outside of Europe, with the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi hosting the season’s climax from May 23-25, 2025.
The semi-finals saw AS Monaco defeat regular-season winners Olympiacos 78-68, securing their first-ever spot in the championship game. In the other semi-final, Fenerbahçe overcame Panathinaikos 82-76 in a hard-fought contest, eliminating the current champions in spectacular fashion.
The championship game pitted AS Monaco against Fenerbahçe. Fenerbahçe, under coach Šarūnas Jasikevičius, delivered a composed performance to win their second EuroLeague title, with a final score of 81-70, mostly thanks to Marko Guduric, who scored 19 points.
Somewhat deservingly, Kendrick Nunn was voted the regular season MVP, finishing in front of Sasha Vezenkov in the voting. As far as the final game goes, Nigel Hayes-Davis was voted as the Best Player of the final game as he scored 23 points alongside 9 rebounds. He went 100% from the free throw line, going 14/14.
Other notable regular season awards included Nick Weiler-Babb (FC Bayern Munich) winning best defender of the year, Nadir Hifi (Paris Basketball) being awarded the Rising Star trophy, and Šarūnas Jasikevičius (Fenerbahçe) being named as the coach of the season.
The 2024/25 season was marked by Fenerbahçe’s return to the pinnacle of European basketball after an eight-year wait. AS Monaco’s journey to their first final was a significant achievement for the club. The decision to host the Final Four in Abu Dhabi added a new dimension to the competition. The season also highlighted the immediate impact of new entrants like Paris Basketball and showcased the consistent quality and depth of talent across the league.

The NBA and the EuroLeague are two of the most prominent basketball leagues globally, but they differ in several key aspects that can influence how fans and bettors approach each competition.
Level of Competition: The NBA is often considered the pinnacle of basketball due to its higher financial investment, star players, and global reach. The league attracts the best talent worldwide, featuring future Hall of Famers, making it a more competitive environment. In contrast, the EuroLeague, primarily based in Europe, is highly competitive but lacks the same depth in individual star power.
Playoff Format: The NBA has a best-of-seven series for all rounds of the playoffs, from the first round to the NBA Finals. This format tends to offer a more accurate reflection of team strength due to the extended series. The EuroLeague, however, uses a combination of round-robin group stages and shorter knockout rounds. The final four teams qualify for the playoffs, and the EuroLeague finals are typically a single-game event, which can lead to more unpredictable outcomes. Bettors must consider this difference when analyzing team performance, as the longer NBA series tends to favour the stronger team, while the single-game EuroLeague format is more volatile.
Scheduling and Season Length: The NBA season runs from October to April, with each team playing 82 regular-season games. This leads to a high number of games, creating more data points for analysis and helping to identify trends. EuroLeague teams play fewer games in the regular season (typically 34), but the competition is still fierce. The NBA’s longer schedule also tends to wear down players over time, which is something bettors should keep in mind, especially when analyzing team performance late in the season.
Style of Play: While both leagues feature fast-paced basketball, the NBA is known for its emphasis on individual talent, with superstars often dominating games. The EuroLeague, on the other hand, tends to focus more on team-oriented play and tactical execution, with a stronger emphasis on defence and set plays. This difference in playing style can impact the way games unfold and affect betting strategies. Bettors need to recognize that individual brilliance is often a more significant factor in NBA games, while EuroLeague outcomes may depend more on team chemistry and disciplined execution.
Rules and Regulations: Although both leagues follow FIBA (International Basketball Federation) rules, there are subtle differences. For example, the NBA’s three-point line is further from the basket compared to the EuroLeague’s, and the shot clock in the NBA is set to 24 seconds, whereas the EuroLeague uses a similar format but allows teams to reset the shot clock to 14 seconds on offensive rebounds. These differences in rules may not have a huge impact on overall strategy but can influence scoring patterns and pace, which bettors should factor into their predictions.
